Commentary by Kamal al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn ‘Uthmān ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Muṣṭafá al-Māridīnī al-Turkmānī al-Ḥanafī (Kamal al-Din Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Uthman bin Ibrahim bin Mustafa al-Mardini al-Turkmani al-Hanafi; b. 1314) on the
al-Mulakhkhaṣ fī ‘ilm al-hayʾah al-basīṭah
(Summary of simple body science), an elementary textbook of astronomy by Sharaf al-Dīn Maḥmūd ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Umar al-Jaghmīnī al-Khwārizmī (Sharaf al-Dīn Mahmoud ibn Muhammad ibn Umar al-Jaghmini al-Khwarizmi; fl. early 13th century). The text is dedicated to Sulṭān Maḥmūd Jānī Beg Khān (Sultan Mahmud Jani Beg Khān, reg. 1341-1357; f. 55r, line 15), khān of the Kipchak Khanate (Golden Horde). It contains numerous diagrams.
Folio 53v contains the beginning of the text, but presumably because of the scribal error in line 20, the beginning appears again on the f. 54v.
The copy was completed in mid-Sha‘bān 824/mid-August 1421 (see

Beginnings (f. 54v, lines 1-3):
... Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, Creator of the Heavens
And the two earths in whose creation He made us thinkers, He guided us to contemplation into existence
The wisest rulers...
Ends (f. 109r, lines 1-6):
...And this is the last explanation of this book
As a matter of urgency, due to limited space, Arhwaan falls out of it
A servant whose presence is in the upper room is the place of his satisfaction, and I ask God to reach it
To what He desires and what He desires. He is Able to do what He wills, and it will come
Worthy, praise be to God first and last, and prayers be upon His Prophet inwardly
And apparently...
