A poem on planetary astronomy compiled by Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥājj Jābir al-Ghiyāthī al-Tāzī (Jabir ibn Abdullah ibn al-Hajj Jabir al-Ghiyāthī al-Tāzī, ca 16th century, see f. 94v, lines 14-16).
The text is followed by the beginning of another poem on the Arab and ʿAjam (lunar and solar) calendars, attributed to the same author. The first line of this section is accompanied by a marginal note written by the scribe who names himself asʿUbayd Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Ṣakhrī (Ubayd Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Sakhri, f. 100v, fore edge margin).
Beginnings (f. 94v, lines 14-17):
The jurist said, “The most just judge.”
Jaber bin Abdullah bin Al-Hajj Jaber Al-Ghayathi
The original Tazi is the house, may God accept his repentance and forgive him
Praise be to God, the magnificent Creator, the One Lord, the Wise and Wise
Ends (f. 100r, line 21- f. 100v, line 8):
And here is what was meant...
We praise our Lord, the Grantor, the Generous, the Benefactor, the Benefactor, of great bounty
Then his prayers be upon the clear light, Muhammad, the best of guidance, the trustworthy
Then he was pleased with his companions and the caliphs supported him and freed him and those who followed him
Thank God and His good help and success
The beautiful, the blessings, and the perfect, good prayer
Blessings be upon our Master and Lord Muhammad and Ali
His family and companions, and may He grant us abundant peace until today
Religion and peace be upon all the honorable prophets, messengers and angels
And all the other righteous servants of God, praise be to God, Lord of the worlds
