Notes
Treatise on the sizes and distances of the celestial bodies by Amīr Sayyid Ghiyāth al-Dīn Manṣūr ibn Muḥammad al-Dashtakī (Amir Sayyid Ghiyāth al-Dīn Mansur ibn Muhammad al-Dashtaki, d. 1541).
The treatise is divided into four chapters (sections), each subdivided into sections (chapters):
Chapter One (Chapter One, ff. 15v-17v);
Chapter Two (Part Two, ff. 17v-21v);
Chapter Three (Part Three, ff. 21v-23v);
Chapter Four (Chapter Four, ff. 23v-25v).
The text contains seven diagrams without captions (ff. 18r, 19v, 20v, 21v and 22r), and one space left blank for a diagram that was never completed (f. 19r).
Begins (f. 15v, lines 2-5):
Blessed is He who spread the earth as a bed and built seven pillars over it, forming them and illuminating them
With the lights of the Messengers and Prophets, the chosen one among them is Muhammad Al-Mustafa Ghayath Al-Wari, praise and praise be to him
Prayers are upon them and supplications are due upon them. After all, this is an ambassador alerting you to some of the wonderful things
The deeds of God Almighty in the dust and the green ones were rewarded by the servant, the servant whom his master called a victor...
Ends (f. 25v, lines 13-16):
...This comes from the issues of this art
In general, whoever wants to detail it should look at the glossaries that we have organized
And all our messages and the messages of others, they thank God for their efforts
They made the effort and with God's help we achieved the goal
