Commentary by Abū al-Qāsim ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʻAlī Ibn Abī Ṣādiq al-Nīsābūrī (Abu al-Qasim Abd al-Rahman ibn Ali ibn Abi Sadiq al-Naysaburi, d. ca 1068) on the Aphorisms (Kitāb al-fuṣūl) of Hippocrates (Hippocrates, d. ca 370 BC). The commentary is based on Galen of Pergamon's (Galen, d. ca 216) commentary on the
Aphorisms
.
The text is defective at the end finishing abruptly during the commentary on Book Seven, Aphorism 54 (see Tytler ed., p. 65).
Begins (f. 2v, lines 1-5):
Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may his prayers be upon me
Muhammad and his good and pure family, said Abdul Rahman (!) bin Ali bin Abi Sadiq, may God have mercy on him
After praising God with all His blessings and praising Him for what He deserves and sending blessings upon [...]
Caring encourages people to acquire a branch of knowledge, one of the noblest virtues
Humanity, especially what all people need more than anything else, such as medical science
Ends (f. 128v, lines 15-17, defective at end and edge margin modified):
[...the marrow] from the tendons (?) and moves more than the marrow reaches according to the space it has
[...] He united something similar to the marrow, and in that case he exposes the psychic power to seeking its source
[...] movement, supervision of danger, lurking, dwelling, and exposing some nerves to expansion
