Extract from a commentary (explanation) by Abū Isḥāq ibn ‘Abd Allāh (Abu Ishaq ibn Abdullah, fl. mid-sixteenth century) on the
al-Risāla al-Shamsīyah fī al-ḥisāb
(The solar treatise on arithmetic), a work on arithmetic by Niẓām al-Dīn al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad al-Nīsābūrī (Nizam al-Din al-Hasan ibn Muhammad al-Naysaburi; d. 1328 or 9). A copy of this commentary is found in Oxford, Bodleian MS Selden superius 36.
The text has almost no critical points.
