Notes Treatise on zoology in five chapters (articles) by Sharaf al-Zamān Ṭāhir al-Marwazī (Sharaf al-Zamān Tahir al-Marwazi; fl. 1056-1125). Collation with the two other known copies of this text (British Library, Delhi Arabic 1949 and UCLA, MS Ar. 52) shows that this copy contains a portion of chapter one (ends f. 13r), the whole of chapters two through four and a portion of chapter 5 (see Stern, 'Some Fragments of Galen's On Dispositions [Περὶ ἠθῶν] in Arabic', Classical Quarterly , new series 6, (1956) pp. 268-69 and note 18). Begins (f. 1r, lines 1-2 [defective at beginning]): From Him, it moves in various directions, and that principle becomes the other (?) of the semen which, if it is controlled, becomes ripe. If it was a heart, then the first vessel to be formed must be the vessel of the soul, and it must be intangible at the beginning of the cycle Ends (f. 209r, lines 14-17 [defective at end]): ... It is a shell cover similar to verveer shells called Abu Khais is a good-smelling animal because his animal raises the cold and is the best in being alone in the heat of the pen (?...) In the country of India, there may be found in the still waters of the barley, which is brought from the sea and its color is similar (...) The white is creamy and has many whites (?), and its color is black and it is smaller, and both are good
