The copy was completed on Monday 3 Rabī‘ I 1023/14 April 1614 (see
colophon
Section at the end of a manuscript text.
, f. 283r, transcribed below).
Beginnings (f. 271, lines 2-6):
The Sheikh, Imam, and scholar, Sheikh Shihab al-Din Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Ali, said:
Ibn Imad, whose father was famous as the wanderer, may God Almighty have mercy on him. Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds
May peace and blessings be upon his Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets, and upon his family and companions
All together, this is a simple gloss in the science of arithmetic that is necessary to know
Whoever wants to begin the obligatory prayers will benefit, God willing...
Ends (f. 283r, lines 8-16):
...even if the division of fifteen is reversed
Out of sixty, the answer is a quarter, and so on
Measurement and in this amount that
We have mentioned it sufficiently for those whom God Almighty grants success
And God is the one who seeks help
Al-Taklan, thank God first
Finally, it is visible and hidden
Anyway
May God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family and companions
