Notes Autograph copy of a commentary on al-Kāfī fī ʻilmay al-ʻarūḍ wa-al-qawāfī by Aḥmad ibn ʻAbbād al-Qināʼī (al-Khawwās, d. 858/1454). | Ms. codex., Title from beginning of text (fol. 1b)., 21 lines per page. Written in small medium naskh in black and red ink. European glazed paper. Occasional notes on the margins (mostly corrections). Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Fol. 49: blank. On fol. 48b: note dated 1125 AH. [1713]., On fol. (i)a: Inscription in red pencil using Arabic numerals, reading “295”., Copied in a clean copy (“min al-sawād ilá al-bayāḍ”) by Khalīl ibn Walī ibn Jaʻfar al-Ḥanafī on Wednesday 9 Shaʻbān 1103 (colophon, fol. 48b)., Incipit: In the name of...and may God’s prayers ... Praise be to God, sufficient and peace be upon His servants whom He has chosen. Then the poor servant says... Khalil bin Wali bin Jaafar Al-Hanafi, may God forgive... This is a nice explanation of the text of Al-Kafi in my knowledge of prosody and rhymes by the scholar... Al-Qana’i Al-Shafi’i... He explains their meanings and makes contrasts useful for the lowest and the highest. It keeps him away, and this is what we mentioned here. The last thing we wanted to include in this book. And God Almighty guides us to what is right, and to Him is the reference and the source. Blue marbled paper over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, and envelope flap.
