Notes Compendium of medicine, being an abridgment of Ibn Sīnā's Qānūn fī al-ṭibb. The text is followed on fol. 142b-144a by a text entitled: "Fuṣūl fī al-buthūr". On this Ps.-Hippocratic work on the signs indicating death, a translation of a Greek compilation, and its various titles, see description of Princeton University. Islamic Manuscripts, Garrett no. 3559Y. On fol. 144b-145b are several recipes. | Ms. codex., Title supplied by cataloger, according to P. Hitti., Marginal annotations (glosses and collation notes). Inscription in Roman script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "SS 996"., Layout: 20 lines per page., Description: Written in small script with elements of nastaʻlīq in black ink with use of red. Thin dark cream paper, with large laid lines visible. Fol. 1 is a later replacement. Mainly quaternions; the central bifol. of each quire is marked by a sign on the upper left corner. Note on the pastedown of the upper cover. Water and dampness damage affecting the upper part of the copy., Origin: According to colophon, copied by ʻAbd al-Ḥayy ibn Fakhr al-Dīn in Shīrāz in 996 H. (fol. 142b, followed by verses of poetry in Persian)., Incipit: بسم ... قال الشيخ الامام الحبر الكامل علاء الدين علي ابن ابى الحزم القرشى المطبب قد رتّبت هذا الكتاب على اربعة فنون الفن الاول فى قواعد جزئى الطب اعنى علمية وعملية بقول كلى ...
