Notes A commentary on Bānat Suʻād, a panegyrical poem about the Prophet by Kaʻb ibn Zuhayr. (The titlepage and Hitti (see ref. below) attribute the work to ʻIzz al-Dīn ʻAbd al-ʻAzīz ibn ʻAlī al-Zamzamī (d. 1568)). This was apparently a part of a larger ms, which, according to the title on fol. 2a consisted of two books ("kitābayn"), the first containing this work, and the second a dīwan by Abū ʻAbd Allāh Muḥammad al-Sūdī, known as al-Hādī. | Ms. codex., Title from fol. 2a. Other title from the beginning of the text on fol. 3b., Marginal notes. Label on upper cover: "75". A couple of inscriptions on fol. 1b-2a. Three stamps on fol. 1a., Collation: Paper ; fol. 106 ; quires signed: 1-11 ; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals., Layout: 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled in red ; opening spread frame-ruled in gold and black (f. 2b-3a)., Description: Rubricated ; vowel signs ; glazed paper with prominent pulp ; substantial insect damage to the paper in the second half of the ms., particularly towards the end where parts of text are missing., Origin: Copied by Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf ibn Aḥmad from Ghazāl ("... baladan" -- paper missing here but according to Hitti "al-Ghazālī") and completed on the 4th of Rabīʻ ... (paper missing here but according to Hitti "al-Thānī") 1021 (1612) -- colophon (fol. 106b)., Incipit: الحمد لله الذي جعل قصيده كعب على ناظمها ابرك كعب ... وبعد فلما كان المدح ارفع مقاصد الشعرا واعلاها وانفسها واغلاها, Explicit: وقد مضى القول فى ذلك مرة واحدة والله اعلم | Type II (with flap) binding in brown and red leather and yellow paper over pasteboard. | Acquired by Robert Garrett from Brill, Leyden, 1904. | Hitti, P.
