Rare., Decoration: Both works in the collection have illuminated titlepieces. Shawr al-ṭawīyah has the title written in beige ink with an infill of blue and white, corners in red, and a small roundel in the margin (fol. 1b). al-Irshād wa-al-tibyān has the author's name with an infill of blue and white surrounded by geometric framing in red, green, blue and beige with a small roundel in the margin (fol. 117b)., Origin: Probably from the early XlXth century., Incipit: [شور الطوية] بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد واله قدم الله على عبده العربى بن احمد الشريف الدرقاوى نزيل القبيلة الزروالية ... -- [الارشاد والتبيان] بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد واله الحمد لله القاقح الوهاب ... وبعد فيقول مقيده عبد ربه محمد ابن محمد بن عبد الله المكودى ..., Explicit: [شور الطوية] وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد واله وصحبه وسلم تسليما والحمد لله رب العالمين ه -- [الارشاد والتبيان] ... سيدنا ومولانا محمد خاتم النبيين وامام المرسلين وعلى اله وصحابته اجمعين والحمد لله رب العالمين | 1. fol. 1b-114b: Shawr al-ṭawīyah fī madhhab al-Ṣūfīyah / [al-ʻArabī ibn Aḥmad al-Sharīf al-Darfāl]. A record of discourses on Ṣūfī theology delivered by Abū al-Ḥasan ʻAlī ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān al-ʻImrānī, whom the author first met in Fās in 1182/1768 or 9., 2. fol. 117b-148a: al-Irshād wa-al-tibyān fī radd mā ankarahu al-ruʼasāʼ min ahl Tiṭwān / Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd Allāh al-Makkūdī. A work protesting the ill-treatment and the persecution of the Ṣūfīs in Tiṭwān by the ʻulama of the city. | Contemporaneous? type II (with flap) binding in red leather. Blind-stamped mandorla with blind-tooled frame and edging on covers. Similar decoration on flap and flap connector. | Signature: ʻUmar ibn Balqāsim ibn Abī al-Naṣr al-[?] al-Ḥasanī (fol. 1a).
