Notes The text of, and commentary on, the famous ode of Ibn Durayd as related by Rabīʻah ibn Muḥammad al-Maʻmarī. | Ms. codex., Title supplied by cataloger., Marginal notes in red and black in different hands. On the title page are eight verses of poetry. After the colophon are several quotations from the Qurʼān and a few wisdom verses. On the page following are ten verses by Abū Nuwās and a masʼalah on inheritance. The author of this commentary was a disciple of the famous grammarian Ibn Khālawayh (317-370/929-989/1), from whom he learned the ode., Collection: Paper ; fol. 41 ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals., Layout: 16-18 lines per page., Description: Text commented upon in bolder script; some use of red ; MS in good condition., Origin: According to colophon copy completed 684 (fol. 41a)., Incipit: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May God make it easy. Rabia Tan Muhammad Al-Amri [Al-Maamari] said: I read the copy of this maqsora to Sheikh Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein bin Khalawayh Al-Nahwi..., Colophon: The maqsora was completed, with the praise and success of God, on the eve of Thursday, the slaughter of Muharram, in the year six hundred and eighty-four | Later type III (without flap) binding in plain paste boards with fabric-enforced spine. | Acquired from Brill, Leyden, 1900. | Hitti, P.
