Surat Al-Fatihah, the Almighty’s saying: Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, the Most Merciful, until the end of the surah..., Colophon: [the vitality of hearts] And praise be to God for completion. May blessings and peace be upon the Lord of humanity, his great family, and his noble companions, and peace be upon you and all the people of Islam. Year 1144 -- [Council in Interpretation] Continued, with God’s help, the King, year 1136 | 1. fol. 1b-138b, first group: Ḥayāt al-qulūb. A kind of religious encyclopedia containing the lives of Adam (in part), Noah, Hūd, Ṣāliḥ, Abraham, Ishmael, Lot, Joseph and Job. Here a section is missing. Then follows the lives of Elijah, David, Solomon and Jonah, together with St. George, Zachariah and John. These are followed by an account of the miracles of Jesus, the birth of Muḥammad and the virtues of the Companions. Unclear if it is extracted from al-Majlisī's work., 2. fol. 1a-188b, second group: Majlis fī tafsīr. A commentary on the Qur'an. Sūrat al-Māʻūn-Sūrat al-Kawthar (CVII-CVIII) missing. | Later type II (with flap) binding in brown leather. Blind-stamped mandorla and blind-tooled edging on covers.
