[The pen] raised its head from its bowing and prostration, seeking the abundance of God’s grace and presence, as long as the rain clouds were swept away and the covers of armor were woven by the fingertips of the book. For the sake of our Master Muhammad, the Best of Sleep, upon him and his family and companions, the best prayers and peace be upon him -- [second copy] This blessed letter was written by the hand of a poor man, may God have mercy on him, Muhammad al-Nafrawi al-Maliki, a student who wrote it from his ovary. May God prolong his life with wellness and good deeds on Sunday the eleventh of Jumada al-Akhir in the year one hundred and seventy-nine AH, who has glory and honour. Incipit: [first copy] In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to God, the universal presence of all. His creation... And then the poor man says, To the hidden kindness of his Lord, Hasan bin Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Jabarti... -- [second copy] In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to God, the Necessary Existent, who bestows upon His creation...
