Notes Vol. 1-2 of a commentary on the very well-known collection of original poems by the celebrated poet al-Mutanabbī. | Ms. codex., Title from title page (volume 1, fol. 2a)., A few marginal notes. Lines of verse and other inscriptions (v. 1, fol. 208a-b). Names of seventeen of the better known commentators on Dīwān al-Mutanabbī (v. 2, fol. 1a). Largely illegible titles also appears on lower edge of text blocks., Collation: Paper ; fol. 208 + 174 ; catchwords (vol. 2 only) ; folation in ink using Hindu-Arabic numerals (v. 1) ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals., Layout: 22-35 lines per page ; volume 2 is ruled., Description: Headings in black with gold sprinkles or in green (v. 2) ; vowel signs ; each volume written in different hand, but volume 2 picks up immediately after volume 1 ; text commented upon written larger (v. 1) or in red (v. 2) ; vowel signs (vol. 1) ; folio 11 and the several folios after 203 are replacements, two of them tinted yellow (v. 1) ; watermarks (v. 2: three crescents) ; vol. 1 in good condition ; vol. 2 in excellent condition., Origin: According to colophon copy completed Monday 10 Rabīʻ al-Awwal 1057 by Abū al-Falāḥ ʻAbd al-Ḥayy ibn Aḥmad ibn al-ʻImād, known as Ibn al-ʻAskar. (v. 2, fol. 174a)., Incipit: [الجزء 1] بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم. الحمد لله على سوابغ النعم وله الشکر على جلائل القِسَم ... اما بعد فان الشعر ابقى کلام واحلى نظام وابعده مرقى في درجة البلاغة -- [الجزء 2] بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم. وقال ايضاً يمدحه وقد نزل بميتافارقين. اذا کان مدح فالنسيب المقدم * اکل فصيح قال شعرا متيّم, Colophon: [الجزء 1] تم الجزءالاول من شرح ديوان المتنبي للامام الواحدي رحمهما الله تعالى. واول الجزء الثاني منه وقال ايضًا يمدحه وقد نزل بميّا فارقين. اذا کان مدح فالنسيب المقدم. والحمد لله وحده وصلى الله على من لا نبي بعده. م -- [الجزء 2] کان الفراغ من هذه النسخة المبارکة في نهارالاثنين عاشر شهر ربيع الاول من شهور سنة 1057 على يد احقر العباد واحوجهم الى جود ربه الجواد ابي الفلاح عبدالحي بن احمد بن العماد الشهير بابن العسکر لطف الله تعالى به | Later type II (with flap) binding in brown leather and paper.
