Elegant copy of a treatise on sciences of the Qurʼān, completed on 13 Shawwāl 878 [1474] (see colophon, fo. 390a). | Ms. codex., Title from lower edge of the text block., 21 lines per page. Written in small medium naskh in black ink with use of red. The text is framed within a gold, red and blue border. Illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) in gold, blue and red on fol. 1b. Thin dark cream with visible pulp. Several inscriptions on fol. 390b. Foliation in black ink using Arabic numerals., According to the colophon, the copy was completed on 21 Shawwāl 878 (colophon, fol. 390a)., Incipit: The learned Sheikh Imam said... Jalal al-Din... Praise be to God who sent down to His servant the Book, an insight for those of understanding, and deposited it among the arts of sciences... And after that, knowledge is a vast sea with no resolution, Explicit: And leave the words The envious and their oppression are neglected. After death, envy ceases, and I supplicate to God, glory be to Him, glory be to His authority, as He has granted us the completion of this book to complete the blessing by accepting it and to make us among the first and foremost among the followers of His Messenger and... May God’s blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet and his family and companions and grant them peace | Green leather over pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Both covers have a central gold? Tooled mandorla with two pendants on the vertical axis and a blind-tooled outer border. The envelope flap has a similar border with a smaller pattern on its point. Marbled paper pastedown and free endleaf.
