Notes
Gloss on the commentary by Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Laqānī (d. 958/1551) on the Khuṭbah of al-Mukhtaṣar, a treatment on Islamic law according to the Mālikī school by Khalīl ibn Isḥāq al-Jundī (d. 767/1365). | Ms. codex., Title from title page (fol. 2a)., Physical description: Number of lines per page varies (14-17). Written in medium large naskh, in black ink with use of red. Marginal annotations. european paper. Short saying attributed to al-Imām Mālik on fol. 2a. The text is followed on follo. 130b by several short texts and inscriptions apparently by the same hand as the main text. Transfer of ink and corrosion (particularly at the end of the volume)., Origin: Copy completed in ---5(?) (colophon, fol. 130a). Yahuda and Mach infer from the title on fol. 2a that this is an autograph copy., Incipit: Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and all his companions. Both those who remember you remember and those who are heedless mind their remembrance. The poor mortal servant Abd al-Baqi bin Yusuf al-Zarqani says, may God make them happy. May God’s best wishes be upon them. This is a nice explanation of the explanation of the sermon of Sheikh Khalil the scholar Sheikh Nasser al-Din al-Laqani. I collected it from the explanation of our sheikh the scholar Sheikh Ali al-Ahmuri on the aforementioned sermon. Briefly, pointing to it with a letter, and from my father’s handwriting, and from the footnote of the scholar Sheikh Ahmad Al-Zarqani, Mahshi Al-Mukhtasar on this comment, pointing to it with the image of “D”... So I said, “When this book was written, when the letter “joud” was written for “existence,” it pertains to the past and requires two sentences, the second of which was found at the presence of the first. And his companions, peace and blessings be upon him Ownership statement in the name of al-marḥūm al-shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Zawāwī on fol. 1a. Acquired from Abraham Shalom Yahuda, 1942. | Mach, R. Yahuda, 1371, Brockelmann, C. Gal, II, 84 (2/1. Cmtre h/Gl.) ; SII
