Treatise on ʻibādāt. According to the end of the text, the work was completed on Friday, 14(?) Jumādá al-Ūlá 1032 [March 1623] (fol. 23b). The text is followed on follo. 24a-b by a prayer in Turkish ottoman, entitled “Riwāyāt al-udá”, written by a later hand. | Ms. codex., Title from inscription on fol. 1a (later hand)., Physical description: 21 lines per page. Written in medium large naskh in black ink with use of red. The text is framed in gold and outlined in black. European paper with watermark., Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: “Thānī 531”. Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥ 1167"., Origin: According to colophon, copy completed on 14 R[ajab] 1192 [Aug. 7, 1778] (fol. 23b)., Incipit: O Ever-Living, O Ever-Living, In the Name of... Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace... And then the poor servant says to his rich master, Abu Al-Ikhlas Hasan Al-Sharynbulali Al-Hanafi, that he has sought some respect from me... That I should make an introduction to acts of worship that will bring closer to the initiate... The Book of Purity The waters with which purification is permissible are seven waters, Incipit Riwāyāt al-udá (fol. 24a): Hazi rt Ayyub: Indeed, I am the best of harm, and You are the Most Merciful of the Merciful | Dark brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. Silver tooled central lozenge consisting of knot-work, with flecks and long lines developing from its corners. Outer frame consists of a gold tooled fillet and a guilloche.
