Following the colophon is a extract from al-Dharīʻah [ilá aʻdād al-sharīʻah], a work on Shāfiʻite law by Shams al-Dīn ibn ʻImād al-Aqfahsī (fol. 259b-260a)., Collation: Paper ; fol. 260 ; quires signed: 1-26 ; catchwords ; foliation in ink using Hindu-Arabic numerals ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals., Layout: 27 lines per page., Description: Text in red and commentary in black ; watermarks (cross on 5 hills; three crescents) ; MS in fair condition; the first five folios are defective. Very rare., Origin: According to colophon copy completed Monday ʻArafah [9 Dhū al-Ḥijjah] 1139 at al-Jāmiʻ al-Sharīf al-Umawī in Damascus by the author (fol. 259a)., Incipit: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله الذي شرح صدر من اراد به خيرا للتفقه في الدين ... وبعد فان الاشغال بعلم الشريعة الشريفة من اجل العلوم قدرا واعظمها فخرا خصوصا علم الحلال والحرام ..., Colophon: ووافق الفراغ من تعليقه ضحوة نهارعرفة الاثنين الذي هو من شهور سنة تسع وثلاثين ومائة والف من الهجرة النبوية على صاحبها افضل الصلاة واتم السلام وذلك بقلم مؤلفه الظمآن الى غيث رحمة ربه المنان افقرعباده اليه ابي الخير عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن احمد بن محمد الحنبلي مذهبا الخلوتي طريقا الحلبي اصلا الدمشقي مولدا ووطنا عفي [عفا] الله عن جميع ذنوبه وسترجميع عيوبه آمين وذلك بمدرسة الشميصاتية لصبق الجامع الشريف الاموي عمره الله بالاسلام الى يوم الدين ولا حول ولا قوة الا بالله العلي العظيم. وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى اله وصحبه اجمعين سبحان ربك ربّ العزة عما يصفون وسلام على المرسلين والحمد لله رب العالمين | Later type II (with flap) binding in brown leather and paper. | Ownership signature: Raḥmah bint ʻAbd Allāh al-Ḥanbalī dated 1158 (fol. 1a).
