Notes Commentary on al-Kāfīyah fī naḥw, a treatise on grammar by Jamāl al-Dīn ʻUthmān ibn ʻUmar Ibn al-Ḥājib. | Ms. codex., Title from inscription on the tail of the text block., Ḥāshīyah on the margins, apparently by the same hand as the main text. Inscription in Arabic numerals on fol. 1a: "847"., Layout: 19 lines per page., Description: Written in medium small script in black ink with use of red. Dark cream paper with laid lines and pulp visible. Fol. 1-8: later replacement, on biscuit European paper. The two last foll. (fol. 171-172) written in a more elegant naskh., Origin: According to colophon, copied in 847 H. (fol. 172a)., Incipit: I thank God for the greatness of His majesty, praise be to Him who is overwhelmed by the contemplation of His beauty... And then, after I explained the book Al-Kafiya in Grammar first with revenues... [2a]... His saying the word is a word used for a single meaning. I know that knowledge of this definition depends on knowledge Pronunciation, Explicit: If you said, “O Zaydoun, strike, strike,” in the pause, and “O woman, strike, strike, strike,” in the pause, it is not known that it indicates the nun or the omitted omission, and let this be the last speech in this book. May God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and all his companions | Type III (without flap) binding in dark brown leather over paper pasteboards.
