Written in medium small round naskh in black ink with use of red. Larger script for headings. Cream paper, glossy, with laid lines visible. Inscriptions in Ottoman Turkish on fol. 1a-b. Dampness damage., Origin: Copy completed by Binyāmīn ibn mawlānā Ibrāhīm on Saturday(?) 27 Ṣafar 871 [1466] (colophon, fol. 200b)., Incipit: Praise be to God, who explained the origins of the worlds to the lights of the Sunnah and the Book, and made clear with Tāyīf that He made for the worlds the paths of goodness and the paths of rightness... and after that it is mortal... The servant who lacks God and is rich, Othman bin Haji bin Muhammad Al-Harawi, may God forgive him and his fathers, says --? It has been decided by agreement [--] and the opinion of people of knowledge and reason that among the sciences is the most honorable in status, the highest in rank, and the clearest light... [3a]... The Sheikh, the eminent Imam, Sayyid Muhyi al-Sunnah, the cornerstone of Islam, the supporter of the hadith, the role model of the nation, Abu Muhammad al-Husayn bin Masoud al-Baghawi, may God’s blessing be upon him. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to God and peace be upon His servants. He opened the book after the beginning by saying, “Praise be to God,” as a blessing for His saying, may God bless His Messenger. Say, “Praise be to God.” And His peace be upon His servants, Explicit: The latecomers have lost their lives in summarizing and editing, and spent their lives in reporting and confirming. For everyone will be forgiven, their efforts will be praised, and their reward will be abundant. We ask you, O God, for forgiveness. You are Forgiving and Thankful.
