As for what follows, when I saw the people of this town of ours working diligently and relying on crafts work..., Colophon: The book was completed with God’s help and good success, and its copy was completed on Monday, the thirteenth of Dhul-Qa’dah al-Haram, in the year two hundred and thirty-eight, and God made it good by completing it at the hands of its compiler, the poor Muhammad al-Khatib, in the mosque of his village, Kafr Sousa, Ibn Abd al-Ghani al-Qarout, the Shafi’i school of thought, my friend Khawlan.
