Notes
red leather binding with embossed edge all around - f. 2r: header in gold, red and blue - black, red, blue - Arabic script - paper - So far, two other works are known that belong to the same school of Islamic illumination
Manuscripts from this period in Guǧarāt belong. The first is a Sikandar-nāma (cf.
The Art of India and Pakistan), the other a Ḫamsa by Amīr Ḫusrau Dihlawī (cf.
Binyon, Wilkinson and Gray, Persian Miniature Painting; R. Ettinghausen, Paintings
of the Sultans and Emperors of India). It should also be mentioned that the Qiṣṣa-yi Amīr Ḥamza for the study of the later Rajput schools
can be useful, because numerous elements reappear in them, such as those lying on top of each other
wavy layers of the sky, the trees resembling giant flowers, the scaled
Water and the rampant rock formations: all of this can already be found in this one
handwriting.
