Notes
thick brown cardboard covered with marbled paper with a pattern of blue circles — black, grey — paper — The text contains the “Hikayat Nabi Mi’raj”, the journey of Mohammad to heaven (mi’raj)
on God’s command. The narrative agrees in all essentials with the more recent Arabic adaptations of
the Ascension legend; just like these, in the form of meetings and discussions of
Muhammad on the heavenly journey, it provides information about several objects concerning
the hereafter, and is otherwise full of fantastic glories of Muhammad, descriptions
of the heavens, etc. Cf. Schoem. V 32

[f. 1v]: // Bismillahi ar-rahman ar-rahimi. Alhamdulillahi ar-rabbil al-amin. Wa salad wa
as-salamu 'ala rasululahu khatima nabiya wa al-mursalin. Wa bihi nasta'inu billahi
This is the story of the Prophet 'alaihi wa sallam when he ascended to the sky
by the grace of God Almighty. So it was an incident of His Majesty the Messenger of God
peace be upon him said to Abbas r.a. so he said. Ya Abbas, whoever reads him
or strengthen him from the beginning, then come to the end, then
may God Almighty forgive all his sins, he is like a tree that loses its leaves from its branches
not even a shred of their sin remains and it falls from his body.
