Notes	Shih-chi, while talking about Mao-tun's Northern campaign, records that he dominated the Hun-yii, Ch'ü-sh'C', Ting-ling, Ko-k'un and Hsin-li tribes. While moving on to this issue, the text says, "He turned to the north and took control." But he does not mention any previous expedition. The sections up to this time are devoted to the customs and traditions of the Huns. The previous part also mentions the city of Tai-lin. But this is just to mean that they were going to go on a campaign in the autumn and that they gathered in this place. Therefore, we cannot determine where this expedition started. It is very likely that this attack will start from the main center of Shan-yü'-. Because this war is a kind of completion of internal unity. Our sources add that after these tribes came to power, all Hun chiefs submitted to Mao-tun and recognized their Shan-yü status. This means that these tribes were also subject to or adjacent to the Hun hegemony.
