Former shelfmark: MS X893.7 K84 I118. Shelfmark: MS Or 248. Origin: Item is undated. Likely copied in Iran or Turkey in the 18th or 19th century. Decoration: Gold and polychrome (blue, green, red, orange) illuminated double-page first opening (f. 1v-2r). Textblock border ruled in red, gold, blue; page-opening frame ruled in black. Decorative motif of gold medallion with blue floriate sprays and finials appear diagonally in the upper outer corner of each page, connecting the two sets of rules. More elaborate versions of the medallion also appear in the margins to mark text divisions. Sū̄rah headings in red on cloudbands. Three red dots mark verse endings. Readings in red. Script: Written in naskh in black ink; pointed, vocalized. Layout: 18 long lines; border-ruled. Catchwords every verso, lower left. Title supplied by cataloger. Manuscript codex. Customs stamp solar dated 1312/1934 (f. 1r, 255v). Owner's notes possibly dated 1241 (1825) (f. 1r).. Complete copy of the Qurʼān, followed by a short prayer.
