Notes Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 989 Origin: Lacks dated colophon ; likely copied in Egypt in the late 1930s and bound for James Heyworth-Dunne (d.1974). Transcription likely from a printed edition (perhaps 1897 Tehran lithographed edition of a Majmūʻah, compare Princeton Near East Collections B753.M83 M374 1897 and cf. al-Dharīʻah, v.1, p.89). Former shelfmark: Mich. Isl. Ms. temp. no. 138 Binding: Boards covered in dark green cloth with dark green leather over spine (quarter binding) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in wove paper printed with a floral vegetal pattern in green ; spine gold-stamped with title and decorative accents over raised bands "المشاعر الصدرية | J.H.D." ; sewn in white thread over three recessed cords, tightly bound ; stuck-on endbands (blue and white stripe) ; overall in fairly good condition. Support: Lined / ruled wove paper. Script: Ruqʻah ; quick, compact hand in a thin to medium line ; serifless and freely ligatured with effect of inclination to the right and of words descending to baseline, mainly closed counters, pointing somewhat careless and in strokes rather than distinct dots, final yāʼ usually unpointed. Layout: Written in 15-18 lines per page. Collation: i, II+1 (5), 10 II(45), II+1 (50), i ; exclusively binions ; pagination in purple pencil, Hindu-Arabic numerals through page ١٠, then black ink through page ١٣ ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization. Explicit: "فان من حيث وجوب استفادة الوجود منه تعالى يكون الواجب بالقياس اليه اولا وباعتبار احتياجه اليه في اقامة الوجود وادامته وتتميمه بالكمالات الثانية يكون منتهى واخرا فهو الاول والآخر" Incipit: [al-Mashāʻir ] "نحمد الله ونستعين بقوته التي اقام بها ملكوت الارض والسماء وبكلمته التي انشأ بها نشأتي الاولى والاخرى على تهذيب القوى القابلة للاستكمال ... وبعد فاقل الخلائق قدرا وجرما واكثرهم خطأ وجرما محمد المشتهر بصدر الدين يقول ايها الاخوان السالكون الى الله بنور العرفان ..." ; [Risālah fī ithbāt ḥudūth al-ʻālam] "الحمد لله المتفرد بوجوب الوجود [وجوده] عن كل عين ... اما بعد فيقول الفقير الى عفو ربه الجليل العبد الخاشع الخاضع الذليل الشيخ حسين بن ابراهيم التنكابني عفي عنهما هذه رسالة في اثبات حدوث العالم ..."
