Notes
The text is deliberately subdivided into two main parts (maqālatayn), which are organized, in turn, into chapters (abwāb) and sections (fuṣūl). It is an abridgment of the anatomy-related section (the second of the first part) of the celebrated and very extensive 10th century medical compendium known as the Kitāb al-Malak. Sketches of the human skull's sutures (p.1), jaws and mouth bone system (p.2), nervous system (p.4). Marginal notes, providing explanations on some subjects discussed in the manuscripts. The codex bears 25 drawn handwritten glosses in black ink, alongside with countless textual integrations and external references marked with red inked abbreviations, both in the text block and on the margins, scattered all over the manuscript. In 19-line single column and written down in black ink, with chapter headings and diagrams highlighted in dark red ink. Overlines, signs of renvoi and abbreviations are also rubricated, as well as the drawings of the diagrams. Written during the Timurid era. Copy date from the colophon, Fine, laid, polished Oriental paper, small Indian Naskh hand. Manuscript.. The book presents a comprehensive treatment of the science and practice of medicine and anatomy of the body. Divided into 20 discourses, the first ten deal with the theory and the second ten with the practice of medicine.
