Notes
Ali Suavi's treatise, first published in 1873. Nasır-ed-din Chah d'Iran is about the Paris trip of Nasreddin Shah, the Iranian shah of Turkish origin. This work, written in French by Ali Suavi to introduce Nasreddin Shah, who will come to Paris for a short visit, consists of 15 pages. Ali Suavi, who starts Nasir-ed-din Chah d'Iran by giving information about Nasreddin Shah, talks about the character traits of the shah, the meaning of his name, his education and his family. Comparing Nasreddin Shah with other important Turkish rulers, the author states that the shah, who ascended to the throne at the age of 18, achieved a significant success by ending the internal turmoil in his country, and expresses his admiration for him. Ali Suavi, who read Nasreddin Shah's memoirs published in French and stated that he was very impressed by this work, states that he achieved serious successes as a statesman. The author also points out that Nasreddin Shah was the third Turkish sultan to visit Europe after Sultan Abdulaziz and Khedive Ismail Pasha, and states that these three rulers were coincidentally born in 1830.
