Notes
Lütfullâh Halîmî's Arabic commentary on his own Arabic ode. The poet wrote an Arabic coded ode in order to prevent those who got Prince Bâyezîd, the governor of Amasya, into drinking alcohol and marijuana, and sent it to Fatih Sultan Mehmed to ensure that the criminals were punished. Later, he annotated the same ode. The single copy of the work, located in the Süleymaniye Library, Hagia Sophia Section, number 4088, is written in the author's own handwriting and in talik calligraphy, and consists of one hundred leaves. At the end of the manuscript, Halîmî stated that he wrote the treatise in 882/1477-78 and named it Hısnu'l-Hasîn. After praising God at the beginning of the work, the commentator included the praise of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, and then annotated the poem, couplet by couplet, in accordance with the classical annotation method. It is seen that the couplets are sometimes annotated line by line and sometimes as a whole. Halîmî sometimes used examples from other Arabic poems while annotating the couplets.
