Notes
An Arabic poetic work that collects the debates Şehâbeddin İbn Arabşâh had with poets during his stay in Cairo and the satirical answers he gave in poetry debates. Şehâbeddin İbn Arabşâh came to Cairo from Damascus in 841/1438 after the death of his teacher Ebû Abdullah Muhammed el-Bukhari. Here, he established closeness and friendship with the city's leading scientists and poets and attended various assemblies with them. The disputes in his works Hitâbü'l-İhâbi'n-Nâkıb and Cevâbü'ş-Şihâbi's-Sâkıbadlı, which include Ibn Arabşâh's long-term satirical debates with poets in Cairo and his answers to poets in poetry competitions, sometimes extend to the sultan. Sehâvî (d. 902/1497), one of the leading language scholars of the period. He stated that Ibn Hacer al-Askalânî (d. 852/1449) read this work personally from his teacher Ibn Arabşâh, and noted that his teacher emphasized his mastery in putting the issues in verse and using the language. Temîmî (d. 1010/1601) also gives information about the work mentioned by Sehâvî in his work called Ehli Karni't-Tâsi' in his work titled Tabakâtü's-Seniyye fî Terâcimi'l-Hanefiyye. There is no study done on the work whose manuscript copies cannot be found. It has not been identified either.
