The book, which is entirely in prose, consists of two parts called "risale". The first part of the text, titled "Risâle fî-Tevârîhi's-Selâtîni'l-Osmâniyye", is about the period starting from the period of Osman Bey to the period of Fatih. The second part, titled "Risâle fî-Târîhi Sultân Mehmed bin Murâd Han min-Âl-i Osmân", covers the approximately thirty-year period between 1451 and 1480, when Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror ascended to the Ottoman throne. The work, which is in Arabic, is valuable in that it provides important information about the founding period of the Ottoman Empire and the time of Fatih (Küçükdağ 2001: 451). Târîh-i Âl-i Osmân was translated into Turkish by Mükrimin Halil and published (1340). The translation made by İbrahim Hakkı Konyalı includes the first treatise of the work (1949).
