Notes	Ömer Fuâdî Efendi's work in which he responds to the debates about devran and dhikr, and to those who criticize (disparage) the Sufis and the practices of the sect. Fuâdî wrote this work as a result of the rumors about some commentators and his works and the discussions he had about these rumors. In his prose treatise, which begins in Arabic and continues in Turkish, Fuâdî defines the Sufis by using the 31st verse of the Al-i Imran surah (Say: "If you love Allah, follow me, Allah will love you and forgive your sins. Allah is very forgiving, very merciful.") He says that it is wrong to interpret the verse exoteric and reject the esoteric interpretations of the verse. People who love Allah should obey the Prophet Muhammad and follow his orders. Therefore, the author should evaluate the objections made by some scholars regarding devran and dhikr and answer them with quotes from various books of interpretation. He makes evaluations by making use of the explanations of scholars such as Ebu's-Suûd, Kadı Beyzâvî, Zemahşerî, İmâm-ı Fahreddîn Râzî, İmâm-ı Gazzâlî and states that devran and dhikr are permissible (Demirel 2018: 73-74).
