Notes	Arabic elegy of 69 couplets written by the famous Şeyhülislam Ebussûd Efendi on the death of Suleiman the Magnificent (d. 1566). Many scholars and poets of the period wrote equivalents to Ebussuûd Efendi's Elegy, which he wrote with a sincere feeling. Researchers evaluating Ebussuûd Efendi's literary personality noted that his Arabic poems were more successful in terms of emotion and content, while the didactic aspect was dominant in his Turkish poems (Âmir 1984: 224, Aydemir 1989: 9).There are many manuscript copies of this and similar odes by Ebussuûd Efendi in Istanbul libraries. The first two couplets of the ode are written by Abdullah Aydemir and Süleyman Ateş; The entirety was published by Beşir Âmir in Arabic and Turkish (Âmir 1984: 244-257; Aydemir 1989: 8-9, Ateş 1999: 68).
