Binding: Pasteboards faced in combed marbled paper (see envelope flap) with red leather over spine, fore-edge flap, and edges/turn-ins (marbled paper faced, leather edged, framed binding) ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in laid paper ; sewn in cream thread, two stations ; worked endbands in red, blue and cream, fair condition ; overall in poor condition with significant abrasion, lifting and losses of paper and leather, delamination of boards, staining, etc.
Support: European laid paper with 10-11 laid lines per cm. (horizontal) and chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart ; well-sized and burnished ; watermarks include three hats (compare Heawood 2599), crown with other motifs, scrollwork ; some staining.
Decoration: Key words, text being commented upon (matn), and abbreviation symbols rubricated ; occasional textual dividers in the form of red discs.
Script: Naskh ; clear Turkish hand ; serifless ; effect of slight tilt to the left ; many open counters ; kāf mashkūlah (mashqūqah) preferred ; pointing in distinct dots ; many tapered descenders ; partially vocalized (text of matn).
Layout: Written in 27 lines per page ; frame-ruled.
Collation: i, VI+1 (13), 17 VI(217), VI+1 (230), i ; chiefly sexternions ; catchwords present ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes back flyleaf and skips two pages between pp.361-362).
Explicit: "فاحمد الله مصليا على محمد خير نبي ارسلا واله العزاء الكرام البرره وصحبه المنتخبين الخيره نجز [؟] بحمد الله وعونه وحسن توفيقه وصلى الله على اشرف الخلق سيدنا محمد واله وصحبه وسلم تسليما كثيرا والحمد لله رب العالمين
Incipit: "الحمد لله والشكر له وصلوته على اشرف نبي ارسله ... وبعد فهذا توضيح لمقاصد الفية بن مالك رحمة الله [كذا] يجلوا معانيها على طلابها ويظهر محاسنها لخطابها ..."
