Ms. 511 Origin: Lacks dated scribal colophon ; paper suggests 18th century. Former shelfmark: From inscription on inner front cover and spine label, "IL 114" (likely supplied by Yahuda). Binding: Limp cover in heavy dark green paper ; oversewn in white thread ; traces of headband ; housed in envelope. Support: European laid paper with 20 laid lines in 16 mm. (vertical) and regularly spaced chain lines (roughly 20-22 mm. apart, horizontal) ; watermarks difficult to discern but include bar with name or initials. Decoration: Section headings and keywords rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of three dots in red ; written area surrounded by red rule-border (occasionally with additional black fillet). Script: Naskh ; elegant Turkish hand ; partially and inconsistently seriffed, mainly on stand-alone letters and lām alif ligature but also on some alifs and lāms ; effect of slight tilt to the left ; partially vocalized. Layout: Written in 19 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident). Collation: 5 V(50), III (56) ; quinions with final ternion ; final two leaves left blank ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil (supplied during cataloguing). Explicit: "قوله كالفانج [كالفالج؟] هو البعير العظيم الذى له سنامان قال محمد عفا الله عنه إنى قد انهيت كتابي هذا الى اخره والحمد لله وحده وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد واله وصحبه وسلم تسليما كثيرا الى يوم الدين وحسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل تم تم تم" Incipit: "قال الشيخ الامام العالم العلامة حجة الدين أبو عبد الله محمد بن ابي محمد بن محمد بن ظفر رحمه الله تعالى ورضي عنه وارضاه وبمنه وكرمه الحمد الله مولي اوليائه الرفعة والتمكين ... وسميته خير البشر بخير البشر" Title from inscription on 'title page' (p.1) and within preface on p.5.
