Notes The author gained his fame with his Arabic general history called Câmi'ü'd-düvel. The work is also known as Müneccimbaşı Tarih. The title Câmi'u'd-düvel appears in the two-volume author's version of the book. The idea that the original name of the work was Sahâ'ifü'l-ahbâr fî vekayi'i'l-a'sâr, and that it was later named Câmi'u'd-düvel because it was a world history, should not be true. This name was probably added by the copyist to the second copy, which was copied four years after the author's death. Câmi'u'd-düvel attracted attention while the author was still alive, and approximately thirty years after its publication, an attempt was made to translate it into Turkish with the support of Nevşehirli Damad İbrahim Pasha, and this work was given to a committee under the chairmanship of Nedim. Only the translation of the beginning of the book belongs to Nedim. In the translation published in three volumes in Istanbul (1285), there are some changes and abbreviations compared to the original Arabic text. It is noteworthy that a lot of abbreviations were made in the general history section, and almost the entire text was translated into Turkish, only in the parts deemed important.
