Notes
el-Kıdhu'l-mu'allâ fi't-târîhi'l-muhallâ. The first part of the work, which has the characteristics of a cultural and literary history, is devoted to past nations other than Arabs, and the second part is organized in two parts, the first of which is about the Age of Ignorance and the second about the Islamic period. The section of the large section called Mesâbîhü'z-'zalâm fî târîhi milleti'l-İslâm, belonging to Andalusian writers and poets, was written by Ebû Abdullah Muhammed b. Abdullah b. It has survived to the present day with the help of Halîl and was published by İbrahim el-Ebyârî (Cairo 1378/1959). In this section, which is the most important source of Andalusian cultural history as of the end of the Almohad period, Ibn Saîd introduced seventy-two scholars, poets, men of letters and statesmen, most of whom he met personally, and gave examples of their poems.
