Notes
Written as one column in 17 lines per page. Naskh script in black ink. Maroon leather binding with medallion, şemse, and a flap. This copy is the first volume of the work. It is a commentary written by Zamakhshari, one of the Mu'tazili scholars, mainly using the sagacity method. In addition, narrations are also included in the work, thus the two methods are combined. Zamakhshari wrote the work upon the request of Emir Abu'l-Hasan Ibn Vehhas, while he was in Mecca. Al-Kashshaf, the writing of which started in 526/1132, was completed in two years. The work, which attracted the attention of commentators since the time it was written, was highly appreciated and was taken as a source by almost all commentators, with its features such as interpreting the Quran by taking into account the principles of dictionary, syntax and rhetoric, revealing the miraculous aspects of the Holy Quran, especially its literary superiority and inaccessible verse beauty, and showing that explaining the meanings of the Quran through description and representation is an effective method. More than fifty studies have been done on al-Kashshaf. Additional information: In 1a, there are three erased seals and information about the author of the work. Again, on the same leaf, an anonymous person wrote a list of the books he had and the books he entrusted to his neighbor İbrahim Efendi. In 68b, there is a record of the birth of Molla İbrahim dated 15 Cemaziyelûlâ 1260/2 June 1844. There are notes between the lines, correction records and annotations in the margins. The copy is rejected.
