Sample Text (150b) Sheikh Imam Abu Hamid Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Al-Ghazali, may God Almighty be pleased with him, said: In the name of God... Praise be to God, the right to praise Him, and may blessings and peace be upon Muhammad, His Messenger and His servant... Now know, O you who are keen to acquire knowledge and who display in yourself sincerity of desire and excessive thirst for it, that if you intend by seeking knowledge to compete and show off... then you are seeking to destroy your religion, destroy yourself, and sell your afterlife in this world. Your deal is a failure and your experiences are fruitless... (189b)... And whoever does not fear God will not be assured of his return, but rather will change with the change of purposes. God Almighty said to His Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, “And do not obey one whose heart We have made neglectful of Our remembrance and who follows his own desires... So beware of the company of the sinner, for if he continues for a period of immorality and disobedience, your heart will be removed from him.”
