(152a) The professor said, “Know that Sheikh Abu al-Hasan al-Ash’ari is the imam and leader of the Sunnis, then Sheikh Abu Mansur al-Maturidi. The companions of al-Shafi’i and his followers are followers of him in principles, and al-Shafi’i in branches and the companions of Abu Hanifa are followers. (153a) The Ash’aris said that the verb means creating and earning for the servant, it is called a metaphorical verb. It was said that what is permissible to be uniquely capable of creating and what is not permissible to be unique in that one is capable of earning. The message attributed to Ibn Kamal was completed.
