| Notes | It was presented to Sultan Abdülmecid. Its title and tables are gilded, and its verses are written in red ink. It is bound in cherry rotten leather with mikleps, gilded sunbursts and gussets. It is the first volume of the concise tafsir written without punctuation by Mahmud Efendi (d. 1305/1887), one of the teachers and a member of the council of Damascus province. The first volume covers from Surah al-Fatiha (1) to the end of Surah Maryam (19). See Br. P. II, 775. |
