The name of this great Turkish Sufi, known as Mavlana Calal ad-Din Rumi, is Muhammed b. Muhammad Baha'ad-Din b. Husayn al-Balhi. He was born in Belhte in 604 (1207) and died in Konya in 672 (1273). Although it is known for certain that he started the second volume of his Mesnevi in 662 (1263-1264), the date of its completion is not known, it is likely to have been a few years before his death. The work consists of 6 volumes.
