| Notes | The layout is illuminated, the rulers are gilded. It contains 14 miniatures and 2 maps. Microbleached cherry rot leather binding. This work, which dates the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus and Fernard Kortez, was dedicated to Sultan Murad III (982/1574-1003/1595) by an anonymous author. The first two chapters of the work are about the geographical situation of America, and the third chapter is about the history of discovery. The intermediate miniatures inside show the shapes of strange animals and natives of the continent in question. It is seen that the maps in Y.35b and 40b are placed upside down. This work is among the first books published by İbrahim Müteferika. See Blochet, P. 521. |
