Notes Manuscript codex. Title supplied by cataloger. Physical description: 15 lines per page in naskh script on heavy glazed, laid European paper. Gold borders and verse markers; red punctuation marks, catchwords. Surah headings in silver over gold ground. Text fully vocalized. Erroneously foliated in pencil beginning on front flyleaf. Extensive marginal notes, largely concerning recitation. First two leaves ragged with illuminations somewhat smudged. Decoration: On leaves 1b-2a [= 2b-3a], illuminated two-page gold and polychrome carpet design. Text of Sūrat al-Fātiḥah and beginning of Sūrat al-Baqarah set within clouds on gold ground with black, gold and white braids on either side; rectangles with pink borders and pink and lavender floral design adjacent to text box on top and bottom. Red border runs along inner page and around text area, separating it from a wide gold border decorated with a polychrome floral pattern. Along the periphery are red and blue tīghs radiating outward. On leaf 304a [= 305a], copyist's note is set within a circle, in clouds on gold ground. The circle is set within a square and bordered on the top and bottom by rectangles. The square and rectangles are decorated with a gold and polychrome floral design. Ajzāʼ and places of prostration marked in margins with stylized illuminated flower with tīghs above and below. An illuminated manuscript of the Quran, followed by Duʻāʼ khatm on leaves 303a-b [= 304a-b]. Brown leather Islamic binding with flap; gold-stamped central mandorla, pendants, and corner pieces of red leather; gold tooling. Yellow paper pastedowns and flyleaves. Binding repaired on inner covers with green cloth.
