The author was a student of Ghiyas̱ al-Dīn Manṣūr Dashtakī (died 948 AH/1541). He first wrote a book called 'Ḥal al-taqvīm' in the name of his master, and then compiled a selection thereof into a book called 'Intikhāb-i ḥal al-taqvīm'. The work is comprised of an introduction, an article, and a conclusion. The introduction and the article have both been divided into sections called 'lumʿah'. The introduction gives a definition of Taqvīm, while the article provides a full account of it.
