Notes
Collection of miscellaneous Persian and Arabic works on Sufism, comprised of twenty-nine heterogeneous items from differing sources. Defective at beginning and lacunae in later portions. Items a-p originate from a single volume, characterised by the same nastaʿlīq hand with minor variations, also using naskh. Volume not dated; individual items dated (items b, f, r, w, and bb), ranging 1061-8 Shavvāl 1140/1651-18 May 1728. Neat to awkward scribal nastaʿlīq, naskh, and shikastah āmīz hands. Stamped foliation and discontinuous earlier Persian foliation in parts. Lacks original binding. Original text cropped, cut and remounted with new margins in gutter. Folios subsequently rebound in IOL red half leather binding, stamp dated 21 Oct 1935. Folios damaged by wormholes, gauze net overlay in parts, later repairs, cropped margins, and occasional stains. Labels from the earlier wrapper remounted at beginning. Owner’s seals. Condition moderately fragile. IOL microfilms detailed below.
