Praise be to God, who made everything perfect that He created... After that, Muhammad ibn Musa ibn Shahri asked me to compile a book for him on history... so I listened... and began to compile this book... and I named it Rawdat al-Mandahir fi al-Ilm al-Awwal wa al-Akhtar.
