Notes First volume (out of two) of Müstakimzade's three-way dictionary of Arabic, Persian and Turkish, based on the Arabic-Persian dictionary Qānūn al-adab fī ḍabṭ kalimāt al-ʻArab by Abū al-Faḍl Ḥubaysh ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad al-Tiflīsī (d. ca. 1203). | Ms. codex., Title from fol. 1a., 27 lines per page. Written in medium small nastaʻlīq in black ink with use of red for rubrication. Text written within a double line frame in red ink, except on ff. 15b-16a where the frame is in gold leaf outlined in black ink. Fol. 15b has illuminated head piece of floral design in gold ink. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Ff. 1b-14a have an empty contents grid ruled in red ink. Thin glazed paper with several different watermarks, including figures of a horseman and a bull, most of it colored in yellow., Incipit: الحمد اللغوى وسائر انواعه مطلقه وفعلية وقولية وعرفية ... اما بعد فحل الفحول ارباب لغات وواصل اصل الاصول فضائل الذات, Explicit: الغلظه ستبرى سابقا مذكور غلاظت معنا سنده مصدردر مثلث الاول اولمغله نوعين سابقين ده مندرجدر | Brown leather with envelope flap. Gold tooled border design on covers made with a gold guilloche, fillets and small rosetta stamps. Central mandorlas with pendants on upper and lower covers, blind stamped and covered in gold leaf, with small rosetta stamps and radiating sprigs around the edges. Similar design on envelope flap, with a smaller mandorla and just the fillets around the borders. Flap linings and endleaves in light purple paper.
