Notes Treatise on defective authorities for traditions. On fol. 1a, 5a and 5b are short texts, apparently by one hand different from the main text. | Ms. codex., Title from fol. 1a., Incipit: Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and the end is for the righteous, and may God’s prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family, and his companions. As for what follows, this is a comment on the names of the muddles that I collected long ago in the year seven hundred and ninety-two in a comment of mine on the biography of Abu al-Fath. Explicit: Al-Hakim said: I do not know among the later ones anyone who is mentioned by him except Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Suleiman al-Ba’adi, and God knows best. This is the end of what a sheikh commented. Our sheikh is one of the distorters, so whoever finds any of them after that, corrects it in its place, then it is capable of adding more. Praise be to God alone, and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family, and his companions. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs. Physical description: 36 lines per page. Written in casual small naskh in black ink with use of red for entries and re-inking. The paper is hardly visible due to the density of the script. The last foll. Shows dark cream paper, glossy, with laid and chain lines visible. Fol. 6 is a thicker leaf of European paper, with the inscription “Aḥmad ibn Shanūn”., Origin: Copied in 924 H. [1518 or 1519] (colophon, fol. 5a, lower margin). | Unbound. | The name "Aḥmad ibn Shanūn" is written on fol. 6a. Acquired from Abraham Shalom Yahuda, 1942. | Mach, R. Yahuda, 4640
